Lyrics

Rundle Mall Farmers

Well out on the land they’re doin’ it tough
But back here in town, well, things aren’t so rough
Far from the fields of drought and it’s dramas
Each harvest is marvelous for Rundle Mall farmers

It seems every few years the mall’s re-assessed
Oh the traders have fears we need to address
They get a man, with a plan, on the front showin’ a picture
Of the lie of the land where they’ll soon be growin’ richer

Rundle Mall farmers, they cut quite a dash
And why wouldn’t they when every crop is cash?
And each of those gents - outstanding in his field
Knows down to the cents what each paver will yield

Oh they make a big show and they make a big mess
People say, “I don’t know, it’s progress, I guess”
And I don’t know when, but I’m sure it’s a fact
They’ll dig it all up again and put it all back

Rundle Mall farmers they’re doin’ ok
Rundle Mall farmers are still makin’ hay
They don’t need seed or fertiliser
They just plant the idea in The Advertiser

And they don’t use tractors, they don’t have ploughs
Livestock’s not a factor – they’ve no sheep or cows
But the yield comes in so quickly it’s not funny
And it’s really not risky ‘cos they’re using your money!

Rundle Mall farmers are sure on a winner
Tho’ what they grow there’s no good for dinner
They ain’t makin’ bacon but that’s not a biggie
For instead of the real thing we’ve got statues of piggies

Rundle Mall farmers they’re doin’ ok
Rundle Mall farmers are still makin’ hay
They don’t need seed or fertiliser
