  1. Rundle Mall Farmers

Lyrics

Rundle Mall Farmers

Out on the land they’re doing it tough
But back here in town, well, things aren’t so rough
Far from the land of drought and it’s dramas
Each harvest is marvellous for Rundle Mall farmers

It seems every few years the mall’s re-assessed
Oh the traders have fears we need to address
They get a man, with a plan, on the front showin’ a picture
Of the lie of the land where they’ll soon be growin’ richer

Rundle Mall farmers, they cut quite a dash
And why wouldn’t they when each crop is cash
Every one of those gents outstanding in his field
Knows down to the cent what each paver will yield

And they make a big show and they make a big mess
People say, “I don’t know, it’s progress, I guess”
And I don’t know when, but I’m sure it’s a fact
They’ll dig it all up again and put it all back

They don’t use a tractor, they don’t have to plough
Livestock’s not a factor – there’s no sheep or cows
But the harvest comes in so quick it’s not funny
There’s really no risk ‘cos they’re using our money!

Rundle Mall farmers, they cut quite a dash
And why wouldn’t they when each crop is cash
They don’t need seed or fertiliser
They just plant the idea in The Advertiser

Rundle Mall farmers, they cut quite a dash
And why wouldn’t they when each crop is cash
They don’t need seed or fertiliser
They just plant the idea in The Advertiser
